Brahmi Compositions ....

• Ashtanga ghrita : The Ghee (Ghrita) based preparation, that is for 8 parts (Astanga). The ingredients are Brahmi, Sweet flag, Mandukaparni (Centella asciatica), Asparagus, Guruchi, etc along with milk and ghee.
  
  Actions: For longivity, sweet voice, Memory, Intelligence.
  
  

• Brahmi Ghritam : A Ghee (Ghritam) preparation of Brahmi. The composition also includes Acorus / Sweet flag, Samkhapuspi, dry ginger, Long pepper, Pepper etc (ref:Astanga Hridaya).
  
  Indication: Insanity, Epilepsy and Leprosy (Skin disease). It sharpens memory and improves voice.
  
  

• Brihat Garbhachintamani rasa : A formulation of Mercury (rasa), that is meant for the protection of Pregnancy or foetus (Garbha). The name Brihat indicates it's high potency.
  
  Indication: Menorrhagia, fever burning sensation during pregnancy, and puperal diseases.
  
  

• Mahapaicachika Ghrita : According to Ayurveda one of the evils meant for mental disterbances are the Picacha type, and this ghee (ghrita) based preparation acts against that evils. The name Maha indicates it to be enough potent. The ingredients are Brahmi, Jatamamsi (Nordostachys jatamanshi), Harda, Cowhage, Sweet flag, Guruchi, Guggul, Asparagus etc.
  
  Actions: Improves memery, intelligence. It is nourshing to children.
  
  

• Saraswata churna : A powder (churna) form of medicine that is named after Brahmi (Also called Saraswati, Besides Saraswati refers to the Goddess of memory and intellect). The other parts of the composition includes Aswagandha, Roch salt, Ajowan, cumin, Dry ginger, Pepper, Samkhapuspi, Honey, Sweet flag.
  
  Uses: It increases strengths, memory, intelligence and poetic sense. It also relieves one type of epilepsy.
  
  

• Saraswatarista : An alcoholic preparation (arista) of Brhmi / Saraswati (named after the Goddess of memory and intellect). The composition also includes Asparagus, Harda, Ushira (Vitiveria zizanoids), Ginger, Honey, Aswagandha, Bahada, Guruchi, Elaichi, Cinnamom.
  
  Indication: Epilepsy, Insanity, Semen disorders, Voice defects. It also increases strength and memory.
  
  

• Unmadagajakeshari rasa : The Mercury (Rasa) based preparation, that is so named for it's action against Insanity (Unmada). The other ingredients for the preparation of this medicine are Brahmi, sulphur, Sweet flag etc.
  
  Indication: Insanity, Epilepsy, Malarial fever etc.
